I am having problems with being half deaf. It is affecting me at school because I can't always hear what people are saying, I do not talk loud enough, or I talk too loud. I have to keep repeating myself. I can't talk to anyone really not even my best friends. It hurts and the worst part about it is that I have to go have my hearing checked again. There will be times where all my hearing will just go away and I miss everything the teacher or someone says. I do not know what to do anymore and it just gets worse. When I am at home, I have my music way too loud according to my mom and the tv is always too loud. Also, I can't just try to be normal and say that i am fine so my mom won't have to worry about me but I also do not want to get a hearing aid because when people at school find out, they will treat me differently because that is what kids in high school do. I can't take this anymore. I guess that it is time for me to just get the hearing aid and just push through what the kids at school are going to say. It also means I have to learn sign language whether I like it or not. I mean, I already know some but not enough. I hate this.

- Vladimirtod, it is natural to feel frustrated when it comes to medical issues, big or small.
- If possible, arrange a meeting with your primary doctor to discuss the upcoming procedure at the hearing facility and how you feel overwhelmed about the possibility of getting a hearing aid.
- Before your hearing test comes up, write down some questions that you have so you will be able to gain better insight on your options.
- Even though you may not want to, consider talking with your parents (your mother if you have a preference) to discuss your fears of having to wear a hearing aid.
- If you have to wear a hearing aid in the end, wear it with confidence. Try to accessorize it with your jewelry and clothes. If you feel uneasy at first, wear your hair down over your ears (if you have long length hair).
