Stuff Going On

So I have a few things I need help with. I have social anxiety. I'm on Zoloft but it hasn't helped that much. I was bullied a lot in school and it killed my self-esteem. I can't go anywhere without thinking people are talking about me behind my back and I just feel really ugly.

But the real issue I need help with is my family.

It is really screwed up. My parents are always high or drunk and so are me and my brother. They don't really care about us that much. They only care about themselves. I feel like I'm the adult most of the time. They also favor my brother a lot. He is really horrible too. The other day he came downstairs and punched me in the face for no reason, and he didn't get punished. I got punished for making a big deal about it. He also lied and said that my parents were abusing him, so a social worker had to come to our house. He refuses to go to school, so they filed a CHINS and put him on probation.

Before that happened I told my mom that she needed to make him go to school. And when I told my dad that he wasn't going, he got mad. My mom called me "an evil bitch" and said that I "just want to get her and my brother in trouble". I really hate my family. How do I deal with them?

Whats it Mean ?

  • person18211, there are lots of kids who are having the same problem as you right now. You are not alone.
  • Consider talking to a trusted adult, such as an aunt or uncle, about your situation at home. Surely they will try to understand and will want to help you as much as they can.
  • Consider asking a trusted family member if you can stay with them at their house. Maybe moving out of your house and into a better environment will help you get back on your feet.
  • Give some thought on going to see a counselor. Surely the counselor would be able to help you deal with and come up with ways to deal with the stress at home. They will also be able to help find alternatives to the drinking and getting high.
